Fernanda Figueroa

Dr. Fernanda Figueroa is a Tenured Full-Time Professor at Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her research focuses on the social and political processes linked to environmental degradation and conservation. From political ecology and socio-environmental justice frameworks, she has examined conservation in protected areas and landscape transformations. She leads the Socio-Environmental Analysis Working Group at Facultad de Ciencias (UNAM). She has taught at undergraduate and graduate levels for more than 20 years and has supervised numerous theses at both levels. She is a member of the Red de Estudios Sociales sobre Medio Ambiente (RESMA) and co-coordinates the Interinstitutional Seminar on Political Ecology and Socio-Environmental Studies. She is the co-author of one book, has co-edited two books, and has published 38 academic works, including peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. She is currently conducting research on territorial regime shifts in the southern Yucatán Peninsula.
