Hartmut Fünfgeld is ICLEI Professor of Practice Local Government Climate Resilience at La Trobe University, Melbourne (Australia) and Honorary Professor in Geographies of Climate Adaptation at the Institute for Environmental Social Sciences and Geography, University of Freiburg. Hartmut studies the social and institutional dimensions of climate change impacts and adaptation to climate change, especially in the area of municipal and regional planning. Further research areas are social transformation processes and social justice in the context of global change. Hartmut Fünfgeld received his doctorate in human geography from the University of Heidelberg in 2006. He has twenty years of work experience in research, teaching and advisory work in Europe, Oceania, Africa, and Asia.
